MùM
Novembre 13th, 2025 – h 20.30
Teatro Verdi – Busseto
We are in 1997 and it all begins with a theatre performance in Reykjavik.
In this context, four young people with completely different backgrounds and training meet.
A hardcore punk fan, two twin classical music students and a video game music composer.
This is how Múm was born, a band that would become central to what would become the Northern European atmospheric electronic scene, destined to make history from the late 90s onwards.
In 2000, they released their debut album, characterised by the use of unusual instruments such as toy keyboards, synthesizers and ambient background recordings.
They released five more albums and devoted themselves to numerous side projects.
They produced remixes for their fellow countrymen and acclaimed band Sigur Rós and created the soundtrack for the restoration of Ėjzenštejn’s silent film Battleship Potemkin.
The band collaborated on Unrest, the solo album by Erlend Øye (Kings of Convenience).
Over the course of their career, the band has expanded and contracted several times, taking on various forms and sizes.
Currently, Ovnar and Gunnar are the only two of the four founding members.
Their latest album (Smilewound), featuring Kylie Minogue, dates back to 2013.
Danny Boyle made a documentary about them entitled Don’t tell múm.
Múm’s music is a masterful blend of Berlin-style electronica and evocative melodies.
An experimental pop known for its explorations in electronic music, it blends soft vocals, glitchy rhythms, innovative sampling and alienating effects with a variety of traditional and unconventional instruments.
The band recently announced that they are working on their seventh studio album, which is scheduled for release on 15 September 2025.
