Anja Franziska Plaschg is her real name and was born in 1990 in Austria.

She grew up in a small village where her parents had a farm, but despite the reassuring environment Anja soon discovered her own anxieties.

Hypersensitive and with an innate fragility, she began studying violin and piano at an early age.

In search of an identity, she decided to move to Vienna and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, but here too her anxieties followed her.

She had already recorded an EP but with “Lovetune For Vacuum” (2009), setting a turning point in her life.

A sincere and straightforward album with which the public and the record industry discovered her talent.

Lyrics and sounds highlight her every fragility, her every torment.

“Narrow’ definitively establishes her as a singer-songwriter, even if the electronic influences of artists of whom she declares herself a fan such as Xiu Xiu, Bjork and Aphex Twin begin to be evident.

She increasingly combines electronics with piano suites.

Acknowledgments and collaborations increase.

With Apparat she signed “Goodbye”, a song that appeared on the soundtrack of Breaking Bad and later became the theme song for Dark, another successful series.

She produces songs for films, debuts as an actress in 2012 and, after the premature loss of her father, also becomes a mother.

After six years of silence, all these events come together in “From Gas To Solid”.

Her latest album is from 2024: Torso, an album of covers.

From Sufjan Stevens to Cat Power, from The Doors to Bowie, she reinterprets songs in an intimate way that make her look like a 21st century Nico.
